I was wondering what it is? anybody here had it ?
how much does it cost, and ofcourse does void warrenty,
adding split second thing to 18T does that require additional changes to the engine/ car (e.g. DV etc...)
thanks,

Re: split second 18T (hsaleem)

The "Split Second Boost Controller" is just that....a boost controller. It lets you manually adjust how much boost the turbo pushes out. It will give you more horsepower than stock....around 180ish at the crank? Maybe a little more.
Not sure on cost, and I'm pretty sure that if you ran into turbo or engine problems after using it, that your warranty would be gone. The good thing about it is that you can remove it pretty easily.
The problem with it is that it doesn't change the fuel mapping of the engine, like a chip will. It just lets the turbo produce more boost and hopes the stock ECU can deal with it.
My personaly choice was to go with an Upsolute chip, because it gives you all the correct fuel mappings, and it was only $300 ($325 now)....I have 205hp at the crank.
Hope this helps.

Re: split second 18T (BrandonC)

VW Power Mag has a review on it in their latest issue. From what I read it seems to be a real good piece to have if you own a 1.8t. They said it is priced at around $200. nice for a piece of equiptment that will allow you to run 14 psi!
