jexx, do a search, not long ago there is a post w/ diy instructions, I did install my suspension myself and it wasn't that tough. Look for KW coilover install http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif Better than 700....

Re: Sport Suspension [email protected]$#*!! (lip)

as stated above, that's completely insane!
I installed my H&R Sports in about 5 hours... which is longer than it would take me to do it again. I had to figure out a couple things because I didn't have the best instructions. Anyway, the front end isn't that terrible - the 4-link suspension just requires a bit of looking at. The rear end is a piece of cake - it took me 25 minutes total for both sides.
If you have a couple jack stands and can rent a spring compressor, I'd suggest trying it yourself!

I've installed the fronts before and vowed never to do it again. Unless you have the right tools (impact wrench, deep sockets, spring compressor) I wouldn't DIY. I paid an independent shop $150 to install my second set of springs.
The rear springs and shocks are very easy to install yourself.

Just my .02

I don't know I think it takes a couple of hours. Maybe I'm in the wrong business.

Well, people often wonder how dealers stay in business selling cars for $100 over invoice... Well here's your answer...
The service department is to car dealerships what concession stands are to movie theaters... Think about it, people willingly pay $7 for a small coke and box of popcorn...

I don't think I've come across anyone, besides myself, who has had their dealer do the install. That's probably due to the reason being discussed here.
The good thing is my dealer only charged me 4 hrs. at $55/hr. for the sedan and 5 hrs. at $55/hr. for the 4mo wagon, alignment included.
I wrapped the suspension/wheel package in with the new car deal. The dealer agreed to give me the parts/labor at his cost. That his, he agreed to sell me this 'option' at 'invoice'.
Another advantage to this was getting the package covered under the B2B since the car was delivered with the package already in place.

I have always been told that the VW sport suspension package is not available for the V6, yet you seem to have gotten 2 of them. Is there something I'm missing here?

Re: Sport Suspension [email protected]$#*!! (Pov)

Right after I got my 2000 GLX, I ordered VW Sport Springs and had them installed by the dealer. At that time, you could go to the VW web site and they listed VW Sport Springs for the 1.8t and V6 models. They even had different springs for Sedan, Variant, Tiptronic, and Manual models as well.
If I dug through my mountain of paperwork I'm sure I could find the part number for the springs I ordered.
Anyway, the dealer charged me $545 for the installation and alignment! Being a newbie to mods I thought I was doing the right (safe) thing by having them dealer installed. Two sets of springs later, I'm a little wiser.

POV: Strange. I figured the only place you COULD get them was a dealer. How many dealers have u asked. Many others here have at least bought them at a dealer if not had the dealer do the installation.

Re: Sport Suspension [email protected]$#*!! (Der NuB)

I just looked on the VW site and they list the part number for 1.8T 1998-2001, 2.8V6 1998-2001 and 2.8V6 2001+1/2-2002 sport suspension. But no 1.8T 2001+1/2-2002 item is listed. My Fairfax dealer did not known if there were any for the new body model. Does anybody know the part number for the 1.8T 2002 passat variant sport suspension.
Thanks, Tristan
