Sportwagen Upgrade

My 2017 Sportwagen 4motion
Only thing i’ve done so far is apr stage 1 93 tune and added the audi 18” wheels. I’m looking to upgrade to an is20 eventually since there’s no warranty anymore, are there any upgrades i should add other than downpipe that will make a difference in power or reliability?

If you go IS20 (or either turbo) 100% get the DGS tune as well. That will remap your shift points to align with the new powerband of the turbos. In D mode it’ll be fairly unnoticeable until you really put your foot into it… in S mode it’ll really come alive, much more aggressive upshifts and downshifts.

Both turbos are OEM and are very safe to use on the 1.8. Really comes down to your preference. Though any mod is changing the stock equipment and introducing potential risk.

IS20 will be more peppy with the new power right and the jump, but then fall off before the redline, whereas the IS38 is more subtle down lowbut will pull real hard all the way to the top.

And different tunes give you the power in different ways, whether through timing or just more boost.
Rock the IS12 until the wastegate actuator fails, prob next 20-30K then upgrade to an IS20 and call it good.

Many claim an upgraded IC "should" be considered to really enjoy the added power of the IS38, its not required, but allows you to enjoy the added power.

in the meantime upgrade the rear sway bar and end links (Moog) and you'll swear its a completely different car (even with those meaty fat boy rubbers on it).

I think it might be close i hit 30k miles and basically on the dot i got a p0299 code that went away the next day and now i can sorta hear like tv static every once and a while from the turbo location and to the best of my research that’s what it most likely is
I went APR stg 1 at 64K, stock IS12 actuator failed 18 months later at 81K.

Also just because you don't get a code each time doesn't mean the system is working, under certain failures you'll only get a code for over boost or underboost.
