Re: Spring Caps...quick (Pedmaster)

I dont have a pic. But I have ABD spring caps and JOM strut bearings. Each lowered the front of my Jetta 10mm.
Re: Spring Caps...quick (Pedmaster)

don't buy the expensive abd ones, unless you want to hear them scrape and creak all the time. something about the steel of the springs vs. the aluminum makes them loud. i think we just talked about this.
Re: Spring Caps...quick (EbraketurnGTI)

Do these things screw up your suspension in any way? I want to use them, but after reading in the back of The Golf magazine or something they said "you can use these to lower the front of your car, but we don't recommend them".
Why is this?
Re: Spring Caps...quick (VWsuperhero)

Any of you guys measure the before and after heights after installing the the JOM or Bonrath ones? It says 10-15mm which is a little less than .5" but I just wanted to make sure it really does that much. Thanks.
Re: Spring Caps...quick (Mk2JettaGLi)

rocky mountain motorworks has spring caps for $45... they claim 3/8"s to 5/8"s drop
anyone know whats the deal with them?

Re: Spring Caps...quick (Pedmaster)

the install is'nt hard if you have done front struts before, but if you have not it requires some special tools. don't get mad, you don't have to swear. we are all very sensitive. read up on front strut assembly and see if you feel like tackling it. check rocky mountain for availability, last i heard they were on backorder.
Re: Spring Caps...quick (EbraketurnGTI)

No worries, not mad just forgot the smile at the end of the post, do they really lower the car enough I am trying to get rid of the gap in front and do they work well? http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid28/p3b0cb6421be79ee76d8307079197842b/fe0f247e.jpg.orig.jpg
Re: Spring Caps...quick (Pedmaster)

tried to look at your car but it would'nt let me. yes, they do lower as much as they say they do and work just fine. like i said, the alloy ones make noise, i wish i had steel ones. i have h&r sport springs that lower the front a little more on purpose, so i'm a little nose down but i think it looks cool. i would recommend them, but struts are a pretty big project, and you should replace upper strut bushings (and struts, for that matter) while you are in there. your sig says nuespeed, so i'm assuming you have those springs. if you put them in yourself, you will be just fine. if not, read your bentley and search this topic to find out how we all did it with goofy, unsafe tools.
Re: Spring Caps...quick (EbraketurnGTI)

I appreciate all the help thus far, you said get steel ones, who makes those, are bonrath ones steel?
Re: Spring Caps...quick (Pedmaster)

i believe all but the abd ones are steel.
