Ok, I am looking to get a better handle on my car while dropping it down a little. Just wondering if I can just get some Eibach or Neuspeed sport springs that will lower the ride by about 1"-2" and not replace the stock shocks? Or will i have to replace the shocks in the in the end?

Re: Spring w/ shocks or w/o shocks? (MWadidas55)

Springs + no shocks = bad http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
Shocks + no springs = decent http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Springs + shocks = good http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Lowering springs will wear out stock shocks in <25k miles. The suspension will be underdamped.

Re: Spring w/ shocks or w/o shocks? (catalytic)

and in addition to wearing the shocks out faster, it'll ride like crap.
The stock dampers are just *barely* adequate to handle the soft
stock springs. Virtually all aftermarket springs are higher rate
so they'll just abuse the stock dampers to death.
As the post above shows, you'd be better off getting new dampers
and using them with the stock springs than the other way around.
But if you're going to have the struts out you might as well
replace the springs at the same time you throw in better dampers.
That's just the way it works. Save your money for another month
or two, and you'll be much happier.
