Re: Spyshots: Mercedes-McLaren SLR and Mercedes Maybach (MJGunn)

No clue. They sure are better than most for disguising cars! No disguising the great long nose, short deck proportions, though! Should be an awesome car.

First thanks for the pics.
I think they cover the cars like that to gather attention. Think about it. You don't see a taped up car driving down the streets everyday, car mags and other car freaks, are guarnanteed to try and snap pictures of the car.
Like a game.

That's the best looking Maybach I've yet seen. "Maybach in a sack"-motif is the finishing touch this gargoyle has been needing all along. GeeEmm actually pioneered this clever bit of "restyling" with the "tent" that covers the Pontiac Aztek's keister. It's a refreshingly different way to employ canvas, or other fabrics, in the design-aesthetic of the automobile, wouldn't you agree?
What other recent automotive designs would have benefitted from the "put a bag over it" approach? Hyundai Tiburon (previous arachnid-eyed iteration)? Chevrolet Avalanche (make that sack XXL-size)? Cadillac Escalade (ditto)? Toyota Echo (a cute, cuddly sack with polka-dots would be perfect here)? There are many others, but I don't dare suggest that other cars (particularly Asian-origin) are in any way lacking in beauty, since that is one of the easiest ways to start a dustup here on the Vortex (I'm gonna catch enough hell for mocking the Echo as it is.
