Why does my 2k2 1.8T Jetta seem to have a different rear muffler then several other 1.8T's I've seen on the road?

you might have gotten one with the exposed tips. it's a running change on the 2002's. the newer ones have exposed tips and a rear valance, while the older 2002's have the hidden tips.

As far as I knew, only the GLX's have the new exposed tips, but I may be wrong. Since you have a 1.8T, I have no clue

only the new 24V VR6s have dual exposed chrome tips. others just have exposed tips, not chrome

Ya they tips are exposed and not chromed, maybe stainless they have that kind of look.

thats not true......I was looking at some Jettas outside a dealership in NJ and there was a GLS 1.8T with the valence and exposed chrome tips....looked sweet

It's cold and now I'm going to go outside to check if they are chrome or not!
