My '90 G60 makes a strange noise. I can only hear it when I have the passenger windows down and am driving next to a wall or curb that can bounce the sound back. It is a clicking/tapping sounds. Not CVs. It only makes it under light-moderate load from about 3200-4300 rmps or so. Any ideas?

Rod bearings. The way it was explained to me was that the rod bolts stretch and it leaves a little gap around the bearing. I also heard that b/c of the force down on the pistons b/c of the forced air wears out the top of the bearing. Either way, it's a clanging sound and that's what it is. You can either drop the pan and do it that way or have the bottom end re-done. It's all about how $ you want to spend and how bad it is.
