Contemplating a continental 175 55 15 on a 15X8. The inner bead measurement is about 5" (ala rear Smart Car)

I do see why not. I ran 225 40 18 on my 18x10 RxII's

you could definitely mount it, mr. bbs here had some 165/45s maybe after he started this thread. it would be interesting to see though, been looking at some of those like sizes. The overall height might be a bit much.

i have a few sets of those slightly used, but i've never mounted them before myself... the size is very cheap here though, as Germany mandates replacement of tyres after 3 years by law.. and the good 3 year old ones get exported...

it will absolutely work, the only issue will be that they will be kinda tall for a mk2.
roughly .5" taller than 195/45s.

I'm sure it will stretch, right now they are on Estorils and no stretch so an 8 should be easy. I am eager to see what it looks like because I love the pattern on this Contis. And who knows maybe the Xtra stretch will take care of the half inch.

I saw those 165/45s and that is the way to go. The 175/55 is an EZ stretch but looks a little odd. Only 6 ichs of tread on a 8 inch, I got some k102s and they look great,7 inch tread, low and aggresive tread but I do love the old skool Conti tread

this stretch is a little much but it was worth the try...
the front camber is set at -1 and and 1/16" toe out, something wrong with that?

I don't understand how that looks cool. I am all for some stretch but that it is just to much for me.
