I've got a 1.8t quattro with an APR stage III and the stock clutch doesn't like my driving style. I need a clutch that's gonna hold during some serious launches at the track, but it's my daily driver so it's gotta be "streetable". I can get used to a stiff clutch and harsh engagement, but I don't want it to chatter a lot. I've heard good and bad things about SPEC and others. What's working for the guys running mid 12's? thanks in advance. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Re: Strong clutch needed and it's gotta hold 300WHP (Turbodub17)
Did you look into Sachs, UUC, or Clutchmasters? I know most of them make aftermarket clutches for high HP engines?..not sure about applications though.
PES makes one as well in 4 differnet stages for 97-01 A4s. Here's the link. http://www.pes-tuning.com/Merc...ANSA4
Good luck. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
here's my question.... Who can launch their stg III quattro at 5500 rpm? I know a guy who has a spec stage III clutch and it slips if he drops it that high. I know it's a bit extreme, but I want something that will hold just in case.
unlikely that any will do the job. The diameter is too small, regardless of how aggressive the clutch and pressure plate are. Besides, you are going to need a transmission soon if you keep beating the car that way.
Re: Strong clutch needed and it's gotta hold 300WHP (Turbodub17)
I am in the same boat. I am just bought a T-28 Turbo kit for my car and I am pretty sure I will need a clutch soon after. So far I have only seen clutches for the B5's, does anyone make a good clutch for the B6? I think SPEC makes good clutches I am just not sure if they make one for the B6. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Re: Strong clutch needed and it's gotta hold 300WHP (Villains)
I don't think there are any differences between the B5 and the B6 clutches. There certainly aren't any mechanical differences between the engines and transmissions. I would be suprised if there is a clutch difference.
Re: Strong clutch needed and it's gotta hold 300WHP (Audiquattroluv2)
I am also getting a big turbo setup soon, and will have to change the clutch on my A4 quattro.
So I'm in the same boat...
I've been trying to find info on whats working and some say spec does, some say it don't.
Alternatives are many.
-Sachs have organic clutches sith upgraded pressureplate supposed to hold 500nm.
-Werks of art, but ther seem to be very many bad experiences
-Southbend DXD http://www.dxdracingclutches.com/home.html
-AWE kits? dont know who makes their kits?
-unorthodox racing? Expensive?
Im also not sure if I should chang the flywheel or not...
Re: Strong clutch needed and it's gotta hold 300WHP (Turbodub17)
