I'm assuming these act to preload the spring a bit and/or to account for a shorter spring free length (so the spring doesn't un-seat when in full rebound)??
Anyone installed aftermarket lowering springs or even just replaced the factory springs with ones from a sport package (GLI/337/20AE, etc...) and left out the spacer? What's the outcome?

It'll be lower and your car will handle even worse.

and FWIW... my car sits no lower than what a European Bora with factory sport suspension or even VR6 jetta for that matter...
the Eibach kit does not "slam" the car down... from my factory height (had sport package), front came down about 3/8" (10mm), and rear about 7/8" (23mm)
