When I purchased a $89.00 Nuespeed Upper Strut Tie Bar in 1999 from Summit Racing, the same part number applied to all engine sizes on A-4 Jettas and Golfs.
Don't think you'll have a problem, but you can always ask someone in a store's tech dept. for final confirmation before ordering.

does the neuspeed bar work well? i heard its not too effective because of how it connects to the tower.

The Neuspeed Upper Strut Tower Bar only mounts about 45* around the top strut mount, but it is still very effective and does the job well.
I'm very satisfied with it's performance and believe that other models which mount completely around the tower may not show a great deal of improvement.
This mod is OEM on all Audies and one that I recommend for those who prefer to keep their rides stock. It has a similar affect to putting high performance tires on the car and if you combined wider tires, the Tie Bar, and Bilstein HD Shocks all around, you'll have one sweet handling car.
