well i got to working on my 87gti today and tried locking the doors and the handle got stuck in the open position as if it was being grasped how can i undo this ....or m i just an idiot and its locked and i cant unlock it. go easy i dont ask stupid questions like this too often.

It may have broken. The metal goes bad in the handle and cracks and then the door gets harder and harder to open til it wont open anymore. Sometimes fast sometimes slow...
You might want to take the door handle off and see if the trigger part is broken. While you have it off you can use your finger to press down on the latch lever in the door and make sure the actual lock mechanism is still working ok.

thats exactly whats happening to my pass side handle. i gotta rip it apart and see whats going on with the little -----.

lol, my handles get frozen like that all the time in the winter, but I'm usually able to push them back to the correct position. I imagine your problem's more complicated...

I just replaced both of my handles on my car they took about ten mins each. They cost me NEW $9.80 each. With keys and locks...
