will my car sit lower if i change both the shocks and springs or is it just the spring that actually lowers it?

It kind of depends, but the spring actually lower the car, and the shock will give you a better feeling ride. Both work good together if you have the money to change both at the same time. Just to lower the car for looks and tighter handling, get springs.

The reason I ask is because i put just H&R Sport springs on my car without changing the factory struts. My car is not as low as other cars posted here with the same springs but also upgraded shocks.

Struts slows it down
The springs actually lower the car

the springs actually lower the car.
the upgraded shocks have different characteristics than stock ones. the combination gives you better, more comfortable, handling. springs alone will give you better handling, but a worse ride, comfort wise.
also springs take some time to settle, so in time it may drop a little bit more.
