Is it possible to take the Tiptronic off of a 2002 GLX Jetta and replace it with a manual tranny and gearbox? If so is it possible for in and around $6000 if I could find someone willing to make a trade. Thanks
Anybody know? Please don't make me take this to the MK4 forum. I don't want a thousand people telling me that I am an idiot for not trying the swap forum first. I don't need a definate answer just a rough guesstimate. Thanks again.
$6000!!! holy cow. I just sold an 02J tranny for $500US, even if you have to change the driveshafts and buy a new starter, cables and shifter box, you likely need a new flywheel, and a clutch, pedal assembly, master cylinder, trim bits inside the car. If you can find a wrecked car you could get all the parts for less than $1500, and then sell your old stuff to offset the cost. My 2000 NB ECU was capable of being reprogramed with the VAG-COM for either manual or auto tranny, you would have to verify that on yours, or get another ECU. I am sure you could get someone to do it for $6000, but they would be ripping you off.
