Did you know we once had the one of the fastest tracks in the nation?It was a 2 mile oval made of 2x4s and had
the largest stands in the US.Famous racers like Earl Cooper,Louis Chevrolet,Eddie Rickenbauker
brought there Duesenberg,Benz,Marmon,Fiat,Stutz race cars in by rail and steamship.During WW1 attendance
fell and arson fire destroyed 2/3s of the grandstands.Compounded with needed track repairs the owner
Tacoma Carnival Ass.had no insurance and was broke so they closed it in late 1922.Clover Park Tecnical now
occupies the property.

If it was'nt for those Lakewood thugs that torched it,we might have one of the most historic raceways in the states.

There are plans in Oregon to Build a Superspeedway
outside the Dalles OR.
That would be Cool with a Nascar Event in your Backyard..
like last weekends race with 1st and 2nd

Yeah ---I read about that place in the paper a year or so ago. It was basically all by itself ---there was no development of any kind around it at the time

the boardman track in most favorable conditions, will not be built. the "developers" are better than david copperfield at the smoke and mirrors trick. even if it was built, only the irl would come, and that's a big maybe. there's no infrastructure to put a track there. no hotels, no restraunts, no activities. you have to drive to portland or tricities to do anything. plus the track was drawn up as a 2 mile or so oval, pretty much limiting what can run there. no local shows. nascar itself has told the developers to stop using nascar's name in promoting it, meaning nascar has no interest in coming to the nw.

bot, that track looks a little dangerous if you were to get ejected from the open cockpit.

Actually, I knew that. Heard about sometime in the past, and I think I saw the same article as Palmer. Cool stuff. Makes me wonder how running on a "Wood" surface would be? I'd hate to think about the splinters in your a$$ if you crashed!

standing upright...so 2" slats is what you'd see. remember, 2" is actually 1 3/4".
average 40' wide track = 40*12"= 480" of surface / 1.75" boards = 275 boards wide
275 boards @ 8' length of 2x4 for 10560 ft...
10560/8' = 1320 boards in one 2 mile stretch of 1.75"
1320 boards * 275 board width = 363,000 2"x4"'s for a 2 mile track
if you used 16' 2x4's, it'd be 181,500 2x4s

someone may have to check my math logic.
