[Golf 2 Slow GLS]

I was replacing a bulb in my tail light assembly and I noticed that there is room for another bulb in the assembly. You have to break the tabs on the empty slot and it will give you more light.... I guess. Anyone know what this is for? I must say that VW did a really nice job with their assembly! Very easy to get to and change the bulbs!

that would be for the rear fog mod...others turn them into the fourth and fifth break light...i'm sure someone will post a link...

this is the empty slot for the rear fogs. All cars in europe are equipped for one driver's side rear fog light. American cars get the same tails, but without the wiring for the fogs. USing some vw wires and the european headlight switch you can easily hook up one or 2 rear fogs. Look for a tutorial here: http://mkivresource.com/mods.html

It's for rear fogs. Check out http://www.rawk.com/gti/rearfog/ or http://www.watercooledvw.com/rearfogs.htm for more info on what you can do with that extra socket...

Yup- its for the fog

But has anyone noticed all the extra wire harness plugs on the BACK of the bulb board? What the heck are they for??
