Subject: FW: traffic cams
Not sure if this is true, however, for $2 or $3, I guess it's cheaper than
a laser jamming device.
fyi
This is something going around for the traffic/van cams. I don't know how accurate the
info is, but thought I'd share it with you guys.A friend sent this to me and i thought
I'd pass it on. Hope everyone has a great new year and watch out for those camera cops.
If You Get a Traffic Ticket:
Just thought I would share this with you, as I work in
the ticket enforcement division and in the course of
my investigation into "fines, their payment methods,
and how points are assessed against drivers licenses"
we discovered something very interesting. If you get a
traffic ticket, this has been tried and it works. I
tried to send this to everyone I know. I know that
for a fact this works, so if you ever get in this
situation, you have an out. We discovered that this
procedure works in every state. Read it and try it,
you have nothing to lose but the points on your
license. This is how it works:

If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red
light or whatever the case may be, and you are going
to get points on your license, then there is a method
to ensure that you DO NOT get any points. When you get
your fine, send in the check to pay for it and if the
fine is say, $79, then make the check out for $82 or
some small amount over the fine. The system will then
have to send you back a check for the difference! but
here is the trick!

***DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHECK!!!***

Throw it away! Points are not assessed to your license
until all financial transactions are complete. If you
do not cash the check, then the transactions are NOT
complete. However, the system has gotten its money and
is happy and will not bother you any more. This
information came to our attention from a very reliable
computer company that sets up the standard database
used by each state's DMV.

=================================================
Well you still end up paying money in the end I guess you just dont get the points on your record. I'd rather just not get the ticket at all.
Anyone got any other ideas on the fight against tali-vans. (Besides going speed limit)
That sucks though they can get you from the front and rear...so much for no front license plate....guess I going have to run with both off

lataz,
Rob

Re: Tali Van related article about kinda getting out of the speeding ticket... (dUbL2RbL)

I had seen this posted recently somewhere else. The thing with this is that the points referred to are for your LICENSE and has nothing to do with points assessed on your INSURANCE. In Hawaii, if I remember correctly, they take away your license if you accumulate 9 points or more (I assume this is discretionary and depends on the judge). Each insurance company is different in how many points they assess for moving violations.
Following those instructions will not help you financially (insurance will still go up and you are still paying the fine) but it may stop you from getting your license suspended if you already have several tickets/points.

True! thanks chris
Re: Tali Van related article about kinda getting out of the speeding ticket... (dUbL2RbL)

This does not work. I have tried it not once, but twice here in Hawaii and both tickets still showed up on my driving record. AND, I didn't get the refund of the extra money on one of them. So....as the proverbial saying goes, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". The best way to avoid getting a tix is just to just watch your speed.
As a side note, anyone tried that spray they are selling at places like Progressive Auto sounds? It's supposed to serve the same function as a license plate cover but all you do is spray it on your license plate. It's not permanent and you have to repeat but I might just give it a try.

If this works DubL2 you are a SAINT!! If not, thanks for the helpful suggestion anyway. And thanks for the suggestion on the license plate spray-on. It's worth a "shot" - 'cause its a WAR out there, and we'll do whatever we can to improve our chances of winning, right?
Would love to move to HI some day - what's it really like out there beyond the tourist facade??

Naw man it was just something that someone sent me an e-mail on and though it was interesting and if anyone had experience with this and looks like we got a confirmation that it doesnt work....didnt say it would work or it wouldnt but if you happened to have the ticket you might as well try it cause I dont know what else you would do after you get the citation unless you got good excuse to fight it in court. I do agree that if you want to defeat these photo vans the correct and safest way would be to drive the speed limit and prevent getting them period.... but who goes the exact speed limit....you'll get one if your above the 6 mph threshold. Another thing is theres always room for errors and glitches.... human and computer. Being that I drive over I 100 miles a day most of the accidents I see are by idiot drivers that are careless, inattentive, and wreckless just plain stupidity....I still wonder how people here get their license... Did you read the friggin manual? Did you practice and actually take and pass the test? Do you even have your license? thats some of the questions I want to ask these drivers I come across. Another thing.. SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT! In the mainland its sooo different people have the courtesy to merge to the right lane when they see you coming...not stay in the left lane going the same speed as the car in the slow lane holding up traffic. Sorry had to vent a little.
Kai let me know how the spray goes I saw one in a mag couple months back for your windshield dont know how that one works but curious to see whats up with this spray...thanks for the info dude.
Peace,
Rob

Check this out for info on some smart, inexpensive products including spray: http://www.phantomplate.com/index.html I'm gonna go ahead and try it. You're right above, driving the speed limit is the best defense, but speed limits are lowest-common-denominator regulations often left-over from 1950's era engineering when cars weighed 4000 lbs and had drum brakes with 155/70 bias ply tires and no ABS. Anyway, intelligent, attentive, advanced-skill driving is not rewarded by a system that has to encompass everyone's incompetence. So, if you are going to drive at speeds that are "reasonable" according to your own standards (i.e. ability, attention-level, vehicle equipment) then you need to protect yourself. 'Nuff said.
