I'm looking to replace the engine in my '86 Golf Diesel (after 348,000 miles, 52hp just isn't enough anymore
). How difficult (or impossible) would would it be to put a TDI in there? What parts would need to be added?

Re: TDI in an A2? (ghostrider)

I was kind of worried about that. I know I would need the engine, transmission, accessories (alternator, etc.), computer, and possibly a new pedal assembly, but if a donor car could be located, would it be a matter of bolting in many of the parts, or would much of the new stuff need to be adapted to fit in the A2?

I'd like to think that wiring would be a nightmare... but you'd have a really quick A2!!!
