I was looking at the gear ratios and I was wondering if this would work? Has anybody tried? I would think that it would increase acceleration and improve HWY fuel economy at the same time. Any thoughts?

You trying to say that a TDI box is more heavy duty? I think your all wet, in fact I know you are. The 02J is rated for 350nm of torque, just becausen the ratios in the gearset are different doesn't mean its stronger. My stock 90HP TDI blew up three of the O2J's before even adding a chip, spider gear pinion shaft kept snapping and blowing its way through the differential housing.

you're all wet, what the hell does that mean? anyway the tdi's have a 3.94 r/p. i don't know if anything else is different, but if it's not, the tranny swap would be the easier job. you'd pay $200 for the swap and $800 to have the tranny taken out, pulled apart, and put back in.

I have a TDI gear set in a 02a I picked up with a wave trac diff. I swapped the bell housings in it and am putting it in my mk2 vrt very shortly. Seeing how nobody posted results I'll post when I get the trans in just for information sake.
