Tech specs for Schrick cams and valve springs...

2789 Views 15 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  SII16V
I am looking for specs on the following:
- 260 and 276 Schrick cams (duration, lift, etc...)
- OEM 16V valve springs (max lift, etc...)
- OEM diesel valve springs (ditto)
You see where I am getting at... those Schrick valve springs are pretty darn expensive and I am told by a reputable tuner often quoted in European Car that OEM springs on the intake side is fine and Schricks on the exhaust side is piece of mind, but not mandatory.
Again, he is very well known and sells a lot of this stuff, but he is not suggesting I spend another 350$ with him.

I just got the Schrick catalog from France today!!!! All the specs are in there. Still looking for OEM valve springs specs though!

Schrick Camshafts
part#= 220.E1.601-02
duration=260/114
valve lift=11.2mm
valve timing=16-64
valve lift at TDC=0.9mm
part#=220.E1.681-01
duration=268/112
valve lift=11.5mm
valve timing=22-66
valve lift at TDC=1.6mm
part#=220.E1.761-01
duration=276/110
valve lift=11.5mm
valve timing=28-68
valve lift at TDC=2.4mm
each of these cams has a twin, which is the application for the exhaust side I guess. For the part#, replace the "E" with an "A", and the "01" with "02". Specs are the same expect valve timing is inversed (i.e. 28-68 becomes 68-28), and 0.1mm is added to all valve lift values at TDC.

Schrick Valve Springs
Its the same part# for all cams listed above.
part #=013.02.062 (outer spring to 013.02.026)
inner diameter=23mm
wire diameter=3.85mm
L1 max. installed height=31.5mm
L2 min. operating height=20mm
max valve lift=11.5mm
force at L1=208N
force at L2=610N

That's it! I would love to have the same specs for OEM & TT cams & valve springs. Anyone?

The specs that i have seen on schrick valvesprings are:
max lift of 11,5 mm for the 013.02.062 and .026 that are to be used with the 260, 268 and 276 cams. The other valvesprings 013.02.064 and 220.02.026 are to be used with 284 (11.6 mm lift) and 300 (12 mm lift) cams mechanical.

What's the seat pressure, and spring rate between stock 16V, deisel and Schrick's?
Or if you want me to do the leg work, where can I start looking for this info

VW parts counter knows nothing... why am I not surprised?
Re: Tech specs for Schrick cams and valve springs... (ajothy)

I refuse to believe that NO ONE has ever done research on this before. Should I assume that all of you who bought valve springs haven't compared them to OEM ones?
something's wrong, I see 127 views on this topic... in 15-20 or so years this motor has existed, someone has looked this up before spending a few hundred bucks on these babies.
Re: Tech specs for Schrick cams and valve springs... (ajothy)

Schrick 276s run fine with stock springs. If you wanna buy some springs just get a complete set from Techtonics. I think around $120 503 843 2700

I agree totally, no ones done any research on this topic?!?
Has everyone just thrown in a set of aftermarket springs and said "that'll do it"
without knowing the spring rate, just trust the manufacturer eh?

I'd like to know for sure if my valves will float or not.

i agree my friend and I run 276's with stock valve spings for years and have never had a problem plus they have always been daily drivers with many revs to 8000rpm's...maybe were lucky
Re: Tech specs for Schrick cams and valve springs... (AntoineJo)

I went Schrick valvesprings because of their reputation for quality and high performance. I've got better things to do than research springs.
