Technical question for those with EXPERIENCE with 1.8t conversion!!

1826 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  fatherc_chris
I have a 99 Beetle 1.8t engine conversion in my rado. The problem is that the RPM and Water temperature signals coming from the new ECU are not compatiable with my 1990 instrument cluster. Does anyone out there know how i can modify the digital signals coming from my new beetle hardware to an analog signal that my instrument panel will identify? Currently the Water temp red light blinks and i have no movement from the tachometer...

sup man my bad but im kinda on the same page i have a g60 with a blown cam or a blown crank, if its the head im just replacing the whole head , this being a 2.0 sohc , ive heard its the same block as a 1.8 16 v .
can i switch out the whole engine for a 96 18. and bolt right on or if i can bolt up a 99 + 0 valve 1.8 head n if possibly atainable to me will the whole 1.8 block bolt right up, , obviosly ill need the ecu n harnesses n cluster, but to avoid all this crap , will a 1.8 twin cam 16 valve intake manifold n or headers bolt up to the 20 valve , cus as of now i have 3 choices go head swap only , either 16 v twin cam or 20 v of newer models. or whole engine of a 16 v , or whole engine of a 20 v n if so will the g60 tranny bolt up to eitehr of the 2 mottors? thank u itd be greatly apreciated , time is tight n i need to act on this so i can plan my moves, any advie is greatly apreciated.

Wont a VR6 digital cluster be plug and play with the 1.8T ECU?
