Got my Jetta running this evening
Finally finished going thru everything and changing stuff out.
When I fired it up the idiot light in the temp gauge flashed the whole time it was running. I noticed also that the fan never came on. I shut it down before the temp gauge got up to halfway. Going by the MPA...the oil temp was 173. Would a faulty fan swith cause the light to flash. I looked in the owners manual but the one in the car is for an 86 and my Jetta is an 89....with a 1.8 8v
Anybody know whats causing it to flash??

Re: Temp. idiot light flashing (Tbird 1.8+)

You guessed right Tbird. I guess after flushing the system and refilling it there was some air pockets in it. I topped off the coolant and the light went out. Typical Noob huh???
