are there any telltale signs that this is faulty short of removing it and testing it?, my dpr seems to be functioning fine (hovering around zero at idle, increaseing pressure when throttle is opened). but the exhaust smells sort of rotten eggish when it is warming up, just replaced o2 sensor, cat should still be good. thanks for any help.

the rotten egg smell is sulphur build up in the cat. it is caused by excess sulphur in the fuel, and or a lack of heat in the cat. you may just need to run the car hard for a few minutes to burn it out, or get some chemical additive. they make some stuff that sort of purges the converter. if the car runs alright otherwise, it's probably just a buildup of nasty on the cat.
that would sound right, since the car was running for a time with a bad o2 sensor, too much fuel could have contaminated the cat, thanks for help.
