Re: the crewcab caddy (Dutchman)

I actually like it http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif Kinda wish for more show out of it though..I think it would look good with a nice paint job and a decent set of deep dish 13s
and no cap on the back

I'll bet you they own one of those air-cooled bus'es with the center chopped out so it's only five feet long.

Re: the crewcab caddy (Frank Lee)

Not my cup of tea, the rabbit rear doors dont make a good body line. lots of work into it though.

Dutch, yeah it is "SOOOO U.S." - well, the mid-west of the U.S.

reminds me of a limo...just a tad too long.

agreed, I like it except for the transition from the rear windows to the back
Re: the crewcab caddy (Dutchman)

Hey Dutchman,
Thanks for posting the pictures. Glad you got them. I didn't hear back from you via email so I was wondering if they made it.
Email me back when you get the chance and let me know what the URL is.
Crew Cab Caddy was built in 1983 at Kustom Kurves in Lodi California (still there today). 1981 rabbit, 1982 pickup and now a 1982 diesel motor block. Worked the local shows around California after completion and then was sold to a landscaping firm. Trashed for a few years, then bought by an interested party. Sat for nearly 4 years. Bought by me and brought to Seattle area. Since the picture, the front and rear suspension have been rebuilt with sport struts, 1.5 - 2 inches of lift including two new leaves in back. Working on a 7A or AVX tranny purchase (haven't decided which yet). Thinking about 195/60/14 tires and 10.1 discs up front. Rocco K-bar under the front. Techtonics strut bar up top. Tried a GTI anti-sway bar, but it hit my exhaust pipe and so removed it for now. Have GTI/Sporttruck front spoiler to put on soon. Many more ideas including a nice dark paint job some day. While the current paint is okay, it's a bit "sporty" for my tastes. When I bought this I was amazed at all the little parts that were still there. Like the little plastic cover over the glow plug breaker on the back firewall. The list of little improvements goes on and on. Who knows, maybe a 1.6TD someday. Oh yeah, both rabbit and caddy gas tanks are functional and filled from the truck gas cap so it holds 25 gallons of gas. Makes for a 750 to 800 mile cruising range...talk about passing up the gas pumps...wahoo.
So much to do, so little money and time.
Anybody replaced a rusted out A1 battery tray before. Looking for tips before I do mine.
See Ya'
Crew Cab Caddy
P.S. no air cooled buses in my driveway (not that I would mind if there were)
