the FDA tests products regularly, and it’s very unlikely any major modern ceramic makers still use glaze containing lead. The wild card here is old kilns with a concentration of lead in them. However if you are drinking tea out of grandma’s fine China every day it may be a slightly different story. Unless you are calcium deficient I don’t think there is anything to worry about.

I'll do you one better. I work in one of the largest lead smelters/refineries in the world and I'm exponentially dumber than when I started 10 years ago! Surely being exposed to lead fumes must also make me the most violent man on earth!!!

This girl has been doing some major restoration work and is learning to weld now... its said that lead gets into the bones and after giving birth it leeches out into breast milk. Ive read a bit of Barry's RV thread, mentioning his hands shaking... Im not a doctor but people in Flint have the same symptoms... hopefully he reads this thread to check.

Lead has polluted areas around major roadways and is still being thrown around when its taken off old houses. It causes all types of problems and if a major news outlet says 18% of US deaths are attributed to it, then the number is probably higher.

River dumped PCBs are still wreaking havoc on the population. I believe they made flame retardants with it which only slows down fires by less then a few minutes but also causes health problems. They even add it to children's pyjamas.

The part I bolded was asking what other possibilities could the rise and drop in violent crime be then if not the result of lead.

Interestingly I was bingeing SNL clips tonight (watch?v=q5ZaBIKhCzI) and it referenced how actresses were given arsenic to make their skin pale (womens makeup used to be made of arsenic and lead too btw) which would make them psychotic and to come them down they would be given opium.
A quick search lead me to a movie called Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) which was originally a popular play written by a guy in which

the play suggested that the elite running America had a murderous heritage.

Here are safe and cheap alternatives that can be found at big box store like Walmart.
*Corelle (none pattern, white only is lead free) dishes are made of glass but not their mugs which are ceramic and have little lead.
