Well, after waiting the better part of 4 months for it to arrive, I finally picked up my new 1.8 Jetta Wagon yesterday!
I ordered it in silver with the Monsoon, black leather, and the sport suspension.
When I test drove a wagon this past fall, it had cloth interior, and no sport suspension. I have to say, I was not impressed with the cloth, and while I thought the base model suspension was ok, I knew the sport suspension was the way to go. It's nice to be right once in a while.
One point of interest is the fact that it didn't come through with the twin tip exhaust, and 4motion valance. I've read in this forum that some cars are now coming through with those. Not sure what 's up there.
I worked out a good deal with the dealership. They bought the tires that came on the car, and mounted up 4 Nokian Hakka Qs that I bought. These are on the stock steel wheels. In the spring, I'm going to order some 16" wheels an tires from the Tire Rack.
I really like the fact that the car is kind of a sleeper. I'm tempted to debadge the "1.8" off the back. Make it look like a 2.0.
The only mod I'm planning on is a short shift kit. I have one a my A3 GTI, and I think it's a must have.
I know there are those out there that will say "dude, you gotta put 18" wheels on it, and a real suspension system". Having raced cars for over ten years, I know how uncomfortable that kind of a ride can be, and I don't really want it for my daily driver.
Anyway, I'm rambling.
Now I just want to get the break-in period over and done with.
