It's probably worth fixing.I was given this Sony DA555ES. It keeps going into protector mode. Is it worth fixing it? Apparently this thing was $1,000 when new.

She's got the same look on her face that my wife had when the 12" sub showed up.The pic below is when the Klipsch 15in was delivered, it is the size of a small dog house.

I've got my eye on the 65" OLED as well. I have a 55" 1080p Samsung right now that is perfectly fine to my eye, can't decide if the 4k and OLED upgrade would be worth dropping a grand.I have 50” Panasonic plasma panels from 2010 at both my places. I ditched the AV receiver, legacy speakers, and sub at the Vermont place and swapped in a Sonos Playbase and wireless sub. I’m waiting for the price to drop on 65” LG OLED panels. If I see a 65” CX on close out later this year, I may pull the trigger.
I gave away my Panny plasma this year. I still think the color and motion handling was basically the best. Found a 55” LG CX for $1400 and decided it was time to make the jump. I was once told at a high end AV shop that you buy more cars than TVs. After realizing that I got 12 years out of my plasma, the LG seemed like a pretty great deal. Black levels and contrast are pretty spectacular. Motion and color are close enough to peak plasma, that I don’t see a reason to look back.I've got my eye on the 65" OLED as well. Looks like a great spaceLG 65” OLED, Onkyo 9.2 channel THX/Atmos AVR, 9 Monoprice Amber in-wall/ceiling speakers, Apple TV 4K, Paradigm subwoofer.
The first piece I will upgrade is the sub, probably followed by the AVR. For the very small space we have (10’x16’), this is more than sufficient though.
Assume you like the Emotiva stuff? I see some of their products seem to be reasonably priced, but other stuff is whoa $$$$$I gave away my Panny plasma this year. Regarding audio, I’m a 2 channel guy. My TV rig is an Emotiva XDA-2 dac going to monoblock A500 amps with Thiel CS 3.5 cabinets with restomod drivers. My room rig is an Emotiva DC-1 going to either a handmade First Watt F5T or a no name SET tube amp driving a pair of MTM speakers my friend built for me. Nerd level is high.
I'm torn on trying to figure out a 2.1 system for where we do a decent amount of TV watching v just doing a 2-channel system just for music.I want to build a two channel setup again, but 1) I don’t have a good room for it in this house, 2) tinnitus/hearing loss in one ear makes me think it’s a waste of money. Doesn’t stop me looking for the perfect pair of used KEF LS50’s and the right preamp/amp setup, though...
