Was driving in the LEFT lane, when a late 70's Chevy truck in the RIGHT lane FLIPS A U-TURN IN FRONT OF ME!
Then, he proceeds to speed off, not wanting to take any responsibility for his dumb**** stupid ass self.

I had alot of witnesses when the cop came. One guy saw the truck come from a dead end street before it happened. He leaves, says if he see's anything, he'll let me know. Sure enough, about 15 minutes later, he comes back with the license plate number! Found the truck on that same street it came from. Cop went to go check it out.
Sad thing is, i only have liability, uninsured motorist and emegency vehicle(something like that).
I'm OK. Was wearing my seatbelt, like i always do. But VERY PISSED.
I wanna beat so much ass it's not even funny. I thought about that 5th of Wisky i have, but that's a bad idea when you're pissed.
I don't know how bad the damage really is. The motor runs, but won't go into 1st gear. I'm hoping a new core support will fix it( i already have a new fender for the side thats hit). And obviously a new hood.
If i can't fix it, i'll be looking for another Scirocco. If that's the case, the motor will go into my 77 rabbit for the time being.
Like the title sais, I AIN'T GIVING UP THIS EASY!

Hope it all works out like mine did http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: The Scirocco DOESN'T stop here (Rocconut16v)

sucks to here.. probably just linkage like said is messed up, i dont see how any other damage to tranny could occur.
At least it missed the euro bump.
And that can be fixed fairly easily.. any decent body shop can weld in a new rad support. and straighten out the "inner" fender.

when you open the hood, check to see if the side fram rail is crushed. if it is, it is pretty much a lost cause. if not. get a new core support or make a custom one

Re: The Scirocco DOESN'T stop here (Shislerocco)

just a little FYI before you buy a new core support, they bend very easily. my car was a victim of a terrible hit and run, just using a pry bar and my hands i managed to bend my core support back into place. joebeRT has seen the car and even agree's you can barely tell the car was hit

As soon as i find out if the guy has insurance or not, i will check it out.
The pics were taken after we pry'd the hood up, but it's pushed back too far. So, until i get word on what's going on, i'm going to let it sit.
If he does have insurance, i'm going to negotiate the money they give me.
My dad said, with all my receipts, i could get at least $2000 + keep the car, since my receipts are over $5000. But, i have to be patient and negotiate with the insurance company. He said they'll low-ball me and for me just to say NO until i get what i want(to a certain extent, of course).
BUT, if he doesn't have insurance, i'm taking him to court and suing his ass.
I'll just have to wait right now. But i appreciate it guys.
If the car is unfixable, everything is going into the Rabbit. If it is fixable,
i sure as hell aint takin it apart.

"MOST" insurance companies will only cover mods for about a year. Anything older than that and they usually dismiss them. Notice I said mods as most insurance companies may see a strut bar as an upgrade/"mod" but poly control arm bushings as maintenance. Your best bet is to have a couple high dollar receipts eg an engine, wheels, interior work, or new paint. These are the things that they look for.
Be VERY persistant and a total pain in the arse to the agent you are dealing with. They will give you what you want but they are not going to be easy.
I have had one scirocco totaled twice (dont ask) and another totaled out once. Do not mention any upgrades until they give you a stupid lowball price and then show them your list of upgrades.
I got 2000 +kept my last rocco when a girl in a mini van turned right from the lefthand turn lane into me at an intersection (we were going the same direction)- dragging the rocco and me into a curb. Lets just say the people at american family insurance are Arse Monkeys and it took over a month to get any money out of them.
Just remember the newer the receipts the better and be a total pain in the arse.
Good luck

Oh yeah and before I forget paint shop pro is your best friend.

I hope that wanker get's what's coming either from the law or elsewhere

The damage doesn't look terminal - I hit the side of a truck at 70mph in a mk2 and bent the inner chassis leg. All the car needed was a new hood and fender (see I can speak American too) and she was good to go.

Lol, my bumpers are fine. hehe. Was lucky on that one.
If this guy has insurance, they'll pay to get it fixed. But, if he doesn't, i'm still covered, cuz i have "Uninsured Motorist" coverage.
I will need that welder, though

Yeah, he'll get his. The car should be fixable, i just hate seeing my baby like this
. Makes me sad. After giving her a new heart, new legs, shoes, etc.... she doesn't deserve this.

Re: The Scirocco DOESN'T stop here (VTEC_EATER_16V)

man, i'm sorry.... http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
been to that movie a couple of times myself-didn't like it very much. but at least you were able to get the other guy. too many times that's not possible. and at least you had help from the surrounding public-that's not so easy to get now-a-days, either.
i've been in your situation 2x. one time involved me an' a guy in an acura who had decided that he needed to cross 3 lns of traffic to get to the 7-11 right now, leaving me nowhere to go. the 2nd involved me putting the car shiny side down in a ditch... http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
on a positive note: each incident gave me the opportunity to build another car from the ground up. and each car that was built up was built up better than the last...
.....so, if the rad support is salvageable and the frame railrs aren't too tweaked, see if you can find another hood and go get yerself some bodywork done

good luck

Re: The Scirocco DOESN'T stop here (ginster86roc)

Well. Without ANY RECEIPTS(engine etc.) She offered me $1700(letting me keep the car). BUT, she said the engine would automatically up the price an additional $500.
My receipts total well over $5300. I'm pretty sure i can get over $2000 out of this deal. My dillema, is should i fix my car? Or buy a nice rocco(that doesn't need paint) and swap all my stuff over? My friend's Bro-in-law does body work for a living, so, i might be able to get everything fixed and painted for $1000.
So, i'll keep you posted.

I missed this thread first time around. That really sucks about your car man, sorry.
I say fix it though. I was in the same boat a few months ago with my daily driver (an A2). I ended up fixing it and actully came out a bit ahead after the insurance did all their calculating.
