So much love for the E30 in the other thread... how about some E36 love?
And, while the love for E30 pushes the buying ability into the stratosphere, the E36s remain affordable and, in MANY cases, cleaner and cheaper to purchase!

My friends brother had a gorgeous E36 M3 Sedan. I thought that car was just about perfect.
I am almost kicking myself for getting the ZHP as I keep seeing lower and lower prices for clean E36 M3 sedans. Hope they're still hovering in the low teens two years from now as I'd love to snatch one up.

Yes, it's a great design. But, unfortunately it's also a car that tools in their early twenties have imported from Germany for years now. As a result its image is a young guys' tuning car here now, which is just sad.

Here a nice example.

I don't care about image, but in the US they fall into the trap of any older premium-brand car that can be kept barely running without proper maintenance... most of the E36s on the market are trashed. Always that baffling combination of a car which needs a few thousand dollars worth of maintenance but has a few thousand dollars wrapped into phat rimz and halo headlights and garbage like that.

^^ You have my perfect E36. Alpine white (i think?) M3 Sedan. I've already got an E30 and an E34, I suppose the next logical progression is an E36?

and sometimes you find a mint, unmolested one with a ton of paperwork that was owned by an old lady since new for $3500...
There's a guy local to me that I've talked to about E30 parts...but his deal is E36s now. He parts them, knows them inside out. We talked about it at length once, and his impression is that there is a lot more in common (mechanically) between the E30 and E36 than most folks are aware of, but the E36 is safer, roomier, more comfortable, and has the more advanced Z-axle (or whatever it's called) rear suspension. I kind of want a four-door/5-speed 325i as a daily.

Agreed. Alpine White M3/4door/5speed is the perfect e36 imo

If you don't like it, then don't click on it.

Thanks guys! :)

I  4 door cars.

After I sold my Evo 8, I was looking for a Techno-Violet sedan. But all of them were automatics. My GF found this one at a small used car lot that just posted in on CL. I was surprised to find it for the price, and so clean.

If you want to drool a little.

It hurts how much I want that. E36 is my favorite M3. I can't explain really why I like the design so much, but it's pretty much perfect in my eyes. Also, the colors are awesome. Boston green, estoril blue, or dakar yellow. I can't decide which one I like more. Right now though I'd go for the green :D

Not to mention it's a great drive and I've heard it's a fairly simple car to work on. I don't do any of that, but once I get out of college, if the opportunity presents itself and I'm doing well enough, I would learn on an e36, hopefully an M, for my weekend car. No visual modifications obviously, that's not me, and I already think it's perfect.
