Re: Things to look for when buying a VR6 GTI? (avery0829)
what year car is it in?
OBD1 or OBD2
12v or 24v
Manual or Automatic
Look for things you would look for on any car;
Leaks, broken parts, heavy rust, messed up wires, parts rubbing, big enough brakes (at least 10.1 and all wheel disc).
Drive it around make sure it goes, stops, steers, and doesnt make a lot of noise.
Check the undercarage for oil leaks and/or a smashed pan.
Whens the last time the chains and guides were changed?
Does it have the correct cluster, steering colum inside, and updated fuse box?
Lots of crap to check for if youre gonna use it as a daily, but if you still wanna work on it, then some things can just be passed over.
