I think Im coming to terms
I have NO time to do my car
Im now broke.
I seem to have been stiffed on one of my sales
I have had her for 2 years and made NO progress
I cant afford a new windshield, which means she wont pass inspection
that means when I put the new axle in, itll wait another 2 months so I can afford a windshield
more crap will break.
I can already tell the brake lines will break when we swap the new axle in
I just dont think I can finish it...
not with school and work.
I sometimes can put 5 hours a week into it, but thats a rare occasion.
I think its about over

don't fret it man... sometimes you just need a breather... take a vacation from the rabbit for a few days... don't do anything that can be related to it (maybe even no vortex) and soon the sun will come out!

as some of you know, my carbs and rims are for sale
those are the first to go
please spread the word
if I can sell those for around $1200, Ill be out of the hole

1 word... E-BAY!!!!! If you need the bling, it's the only way to go... Sure it won't go to a vortexer (more than likey) but you also won't get kicked in the balls 20 times trying to sell to people who deserve your parts...
Oh, and no flames please...
But, I'm sorry that you can't deal with it anymore... Hope you stick around, and maybe you'll find something that won't be SUCH a project...

I know how you feel, Chapel. I had to do the same thing with my 57 Oval Type I. Just didn't have time & cash for it, she was just sittin in my driveway lookin depressed...

parts will be sold in order of importance to the car (least important first)
Carbs
Rims
Body Kit
Interior
then Id like someone to buy the car as a whole (as its not worth parting out the entire chassis, etc.)
if I replace the interior with a stock Rabbit GTi interior or something, Id like $1000 for the car. (that would include the repaired axle, and I might just leave the suspension, new rims and tires on it too.)
If I do it that way, Id recoup enough money that I wouldnt be losing my shirt on it.
prices Im thinking of:
Carbs $700
Rims $700
Cabby Kit $700
Recaro seats $325
shaved rear hatch $50 (no glass)
spare passenger side door $10 (full)
Carbon door panels $120
rest of the car (running but with broken windshield) $1000

Sell it, the car is not irreplaceable. take a breather for a while, go buy a hondah. Thatll make you appreciate your old vw, in a few years youll be dying for another.

I just sold 4 rims for $500
got an offer on the outer lips for $250
still trying to get that guy to pay me the $740 for the carbs out in Oregon.
just need to sell the other two RMs for $175 (total)
then Ill be back in the yellow.
let anyone out there know, that I have carbs for an 8V
its about $25 to ship.

I have to agree w/ AdidasCU...sell the poop on ebay, you'll prob get what you want for it, and it will be out of your hands...it may not go to someone who deserves tha parts, but the mk1ers (as far as I have seen) never want to pay more than a shoe sole and a loaf of bread for anything (not saying we're cheap, just thrifty

)
and as vdubjim said, you can always buy another bunny when the lust comes back for it...you've reached a vdub saturation point...let some of it go..if the love grows stronger get another one..if nothing changes, then maybe its time to move onto other things...but once a dubber, always a dubber.
