stock (stick) 1/4 is around 14.8-16.0 depending on driver
chipped 1/4 is around 14.0-15 depending on driver
no idea on 6 speeds...

I doubt you will see the 6-speed in the 1.8t. 6-speed VR6 *should* be around next spring.

we'll prolly see a six speed on the 1.8t when wee see a 4motion GTI!! :-D

According to Motor Trend, the 6 speed will be available in the 1.8T and 24v VR6. The 6 speed would be the only reason I'd buy a new VW. Otherwise, I'd save my money and put it into the one I had now.

We'll see a six speed in the 180bhp GTI when/if we get the 25th anniversary edition GTI here in the states. Your best bet would be to wait for that edition. We might get lucky and see it next spring perhaps, with a little prodding and hopeful thinking.

I sell VWs... and at our last VW training session they stated that the 6 speed 180 1.8T would ONLY be available in the Beetle S... the Jetta will only see it in the 201HP VR6.
I've got a 2002 1.8T jetta and I love it....

Motor Trend made no mention of the 25th Aniv. GTI. All it said was the 12v 174hp VR6 would be replaced by a 24v 201hp VR6 and the 150hp 1.8T would be replaced by the 180hp 1.8T and BOTH would be available with the 6 speed manual.
