Holy moly it's already been three years since the Dieselgate scandal broke. That means that this is your last chance to sign up for a buyback (or your compensation), if you haven't already.

Owners of 2.0-liter VW or Audi TDIs must submit a completed claims and any additional required documentation before September 1, 2018 or give up their buyback.

“We strongly encourage eligible Volkswagen and Audi owners and lessees who have not yet filed claims to do so immediately,” said Elizabeth Cabraser, Court-appointed Lead Counsel and chair of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee. “The benefits under this historic settlement – for both consumers and the environment – are too significant to pass up.”

Following the claim submission deadline will be the offer letter deadline. Anyone who has received an offer letter for their 2.0-liter TDI will have to accept it before December 1, 2018.

Finally, on December 30, the program ends completely. Owners and lessees must complete their selected remedy by the end of the year and it's recommended you do it before then, because the lines might be busy on December 30.

Owners and lessees who choose to sign up for the buyback will get the value of their car (pre-scandal) and a cash bonus.

So far, about 85% of affected vehicles have been fixed to stop them over-emitting and $7.75 billion of the $10 billion funding pool has been handed back to TDI owners.
