[G60 CAB]

I run 20W-50 Amsoil syn in the summer in my G60 with 100,000 miles. 20W-50 is the only oil I have used that wont cause the lifters to tick at startup. I just recently put in 10W-30 for winter, and the lifters tick for the first 5 minutes. I would like to know how to fix this....
Should I put in 5W-30 synthetic, go back to 20W-50 and just dont drive it the first couple of minutes, or replace the lifters.
Also if I need to get new lifters, should I stick with the 10W-30?

have you ever replaced your rod bearings? You may have low oil pressure at idle and start up.

The rod bearings have not been replaced as far as I know. At cold startup I get 3.5 Bars of presure. That is the highest pressure I get during driving. When warm the pressure drops to .9-1.0 Bar.

rod bearings will cause piston chatter right?

Does piston chatter sound similar to a desiel, or very faint rod knock?

Mine started to do the same thing since i put in 10w30
and mines on a rebuilt engine.
But noticed if i turn the car over longer it doesn't..but on cold days it does.
So i'm ditchin the pos 10w30

I am going to go back to 20W-50, and just let the car run a couple minutes before driving when it gets colder outside.

sorry to steal the thread for a sec....but for my brand new rebuilt engine...and for this time of year...what weight should i break it in with?

oh and im also getting a lot of lifter ticking with 5w-30...but that might just be that i have to break in the new lifters..
