Hey guys, i have been looking into upgrading the stock turbo in my GLI for something with more punch. I have decided to buyout my lease and just mod the heck out of my car lol and keep it. So im thinking about a biger turbo. What are some good reliable turbos and what are the average outputs of them.

That's a broad question. And turbos rarely break so you're not looking for a reliable turbo.
If you want no headaches, APR.
/thread

I take that back....unless you buy a used or Turbo XS unit. Then you're gonna see what a glued together turbo looks like.

APR is is then, ill start doin some research right now... thnx. How much WHP could i expect from stage 2?

You really do need to research, they don't make a Stage 2. APR has a Stage 3 and a Stage 3+ kit. Stage 3 is rated at 290HP and the Stage 3+ is rated at 340HP. I will be going w/ the Stage 3+ kit when I decide to spend the money.
I will say the more research you do, APR will become more and more obvious as the only kit to buy if you want OEM reliability w/ some serious punch. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

how do you buy out your lease?

At the end of a lease, there is a lump sum amount left over on the car, you can either pay off that amount that is left, or you can simply give back the car and be on your way.

APR is excellent but pricey.
CUSTOM will be cheaper than APR. but as long as you don't buy poorly made parts, you should be just fine.
contact rippinralf here on the tex. he's a great guy that could answer all your questions and provide you with quality parts and software too.
you need to figure out what your power goals are first.
good luck http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". APR is pricey but dead reliable, bolton and tuned to perfection. Custom is cheaper and you can see more gains from it but its also going to be a bit more finicky at first, will need some fine tuning to get it right and I don't think will be overall near as reliable as the APR kit. There is a reason that kit is as much as it is...tuning and superior parts and materials. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

do you in any matter know normally how much this would be is it like a crazy amount of money that you have to pay, can you finance the rest that you would pay to buy it out???

Yeah, you could finance the amount if you needed to. Worst case you could take out an unsecured personal loan for the amount (usually higher interest rate than new or used car loan). http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

As of now, fittitment is the only issue I'm having. Still in the install phase. And if I did go truely custom with the downpipe, manifold and inlet, most, if not all would be avoided.

what would be avoided? you lost me.

I also think pagparts has something out, which is/will be tons better then ATPs stuff.

Yeah, he told me months ago it would be out in November or so, haven't checked on the status since then.
