How much time and money do you really spend on your cars?
Is it just transportation to you or does it reflex your personality?

it completely reflects my personality. it's ugly, it isn't fast, but um... it turns good and is a pain in the ass?

Well, nobody who takes the trouble to be on this forum really considers their car "just transportation"

I tend to spend as much time as it takes, and as little money as is reasonable, to keep my cars in perfect running order. In other words: lots of time, and now that I am not so poor as I used to be, the money required to do it right. Don't mind spending extra time to save some money because it's a relaxing hobby to me. But oh boy when my car has a problem that I am struggling with, don't get near me because I will definitely be in a very bad mood until I sort it out.

The 'tex has been a real life-saver a couple of times, helping diagnose tricky problems. it's part of the reason I come here regularly, to give something back when I can. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

WHat do you mean, just transportation? *head explodes*
Well over the course of the last 2 months my Scirocco has nearly cost me my sanity. It's been towed to my Mechanic 3 times since the middle of May 90+80+55=$225 in towing! Crap! I need AAA big time (DUH). Then the fuel problems have costed me $220+$200=$420
Total in 2 months for crap fuel problems=$645 smackers. And it's in the shop for a 3rd time for fuel problem that will probably cost me $300 so I'm looking at about $1000 in the last 2months alone! If the thing dripped any oil and didn't pull like a rapped ape I would have got rid of it a long time ago. But after he replaces the Main Fuel pump this time I will have went through pretty much the whole fuel system and if it isn't fixed then it's gone! Don't get me wrong I love tuning and my cars but this scirocco has been pure EVIL! But, it has me obsessed so I spend mass cash on it. I bought it for $800 and am at about $3,200 over 1.5 years. So, I hope my problems are fixed otherwise you'll be seeing a Boosted Rocco up for sale soon! But, I sure hope not! GAWD HELP ME AND MY ROCCO!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

I've always tried to keep my vehicles running well and have done a lot of regular maintenance myself. I've done minor engine work (remove cylinder heads, etc.) and minor suspension work (springs, shocks), brakes, cooling system, etc.
I'm currently just running basic transportation...old Detroit iron...and it has been quite economical but not very fun. I'm getting married in a few months and have a future wife and daughter to think about.
I'll be getting the bodacious vehicle when resources allow for it. I do know what the nice cars are, I just can't justify them as of now.
