What is the average price I should expect to pay to get my timing belt replaced on my 95 Jetta? I'm from Boston if that matters.
Thanks

Also, is it recommanded that I get the water pump replaced as well?
They last about 60-80,000 miles? Can the car run at all if the water pump is broken? The car only has about 55,000 miles on it, I expected the timing belt to last a lot longer than that.

Re: Timing belt replacement.. (boston95jetta)

Might want to DIY. It's not that bad, all pretty much common sense. I'm sure you could do it with a bently or even a haynes

Re: Timing belt replacement.. (ventovolkswagen)

I replaced my timing belt at about 60,000 miles with one of my friends. Not to hard just make sure that none of the gears move when removing or puting on the belt. I used a haynes book, it worked just fine for me.
