......I am seroiusly considering putting my VR6 on the bottle. It is a 97 with 115k and a v1.1 GIAC. Do you guys think that it would be okay to run it.
What system would be good choice. An what kind of shot?

If your dub is in good running condition, then it should be fine to run a 50-70 shot of N20. I use the kit made by Holley it is #05123. It is a dry kit, with a single nozzle installed 4" prior to the throttle body. It is lots 'o' fun!
Do a search on N20, you'll find many threads related to the subject!

Talk to Mike Wood at Nitrous Express. He was very helpfull and NX has a good kit put together. http://www.nitrousexpress.com

Here is a good site made by a fellow vortexer http://www.mightyvr6.com/main.html

It should be about 4-8 hours to install by yourself (dry setup) and one hour to take it out. it will all depend on the setup as well.

There are safe ways as long as you dont get greedy from the start.
Direct port is the safest per hp gain out of the types, dry is easy to install and easy to hide, and single fogger wet setup is good as long as the nozzle is placed right. this is just my 2 cents that i have learned without actually doing it. I just have read about it a little and you will find more info at the above sites and http://www.nosnitrous.com . should also be about 35-45 to fill up a ten pound bottle. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: TO ALL ON THE BOTTLE..... (redvento)

so is it safe for him (or me) to run say a direct port setup with an aftermarket chip??? like the GIAC or similar?
Re: TO ALL ON THE BOTTLE..... (vr6racer_717)

You can't run advanced timing(i.e. No chip) unless you have your GIAC reprogrammed for Nitrous.

I ran a 100 shot NX wet kit on a 98 VR6 with a Neuspeed chip without any problems.
Re: TO ALL ON THE BOTTLE..... (4sfed 4)

The nospeed doesn't advance timing as much as the GIAC or alike chips.

Re: TO ALL ON THE BOTTLE..... (vr6willeatyou)

so is there anyone able to tell me if you can or can't run a chip using nos?
i plan on running something like a 55 shot just to get a little boost when i need it.
any opinions.
thanks guys!

You can get n2o specific chips but a regular aftermarket chip will have too much advanced timing and will give you a large paperweight/repair bill.

Re: TO ALL ON THE BOTTLE..... (redvento)

Word is garrett has a chip out that retards timing when you activate the nitrous, and advances timing when not spraying..........

Re: TO ALL ON THE BOTTLE..... (kevinvr6)

Does anyone know if that is true or not?
That would be sweet if they did!

Go to GIAC's website and email him to let them know there is an intrest in this. I am cause I need one for my OBD-II VR6. I had a regular GIAC chip and was spray'n.... It seemed like it was not right about 4500-5000 rpm's. like there was a glich or something. I have since switched to my stocker and have had no problems. Now I have a 100 shot and man it goes!

I have been doing this as well. The more interest there is in it, the faster they will make it. Lets all show some interest
I sooooooo need one of these.
PS I am going 120 wet direct port

Re: TO ALL ON THE BOTTLE..... (gin8122)

Thanks for all the info so far, but i do have another question.
What kinda plugs are you guys runnig when spraying?
Re: TO ALL ON THE BOTTLE..... (vr6racer_717)

i run a Zex Dry VW kit in my 01 VR. Im also running Zex 2 step colder nitrous/turbo plugs.
They are on their website and cost about $30 a set of 6.

LOL on the NoSpeed. Thats what I called it too!
But, it did dyno at 166 whp with the NoSpeed chip, Pflow and TT exhaust. That seems to be about what the GIAC does as well.

As far as I know, those chips work like "regular" chips at all times other than WOT. At WOT, it assumes you are spraying. Thus, if you are at WOT and arent using nitrous, your timing/fuel wont be ideal.
Theres no way (that I know of) around this unless you have a separate input to the ECU that "knows" when nitrous is on or off. I think JWT makes a board for this on Nissans, but I havent heard of one for VW's.
