Re: to mod a cabby, or not to mod a cabby.. that is the ? (JETrick)

Get cabby. Buy VR6 engine. Pull 2.0 engine from Cabby. Sell 2.0 engine. Cram VR6 engine in Cabby. Go cruise.

You could easily buy a VR6 for 2000-2500 USD (maybe even cheaper) and if you are comfortable enough pulling and swapping engines yourself it shouldn't be a problem. Hell..get yourself a Bentley manual, access to some tools and go nuts. In all honesty...nothing about pulling an engine (or doing anything on your car) is difficult, provided you are willing to learn about your car and have some brain/muscle power to spare. It's not rocket science afterall...they are just nuts, bolts and hoses...
Do it!

I agree with the VR6 swap. Sell the 2.0 engine (assuming it has low miles) to an A2 or A1 guy and mod up the cab. Start with a vr6 with a drilled airbox and a K&N or a cone filter, a nice exhaust, and hear the cab roar!!

my next plan will hopefully include a cabrio. it just seems like they're left out in the dark most of the time, while everyone focuses on jettas and GTi's.
ideally i want a MK4, then my plan is to put a jetta front clip on it, but i also want to stick with a MK3, i can use most of the stuff from my current golf hehe. my other option: for some freaklike reason i'm compelled to put the stock boxy headlights from a MK2 golf/jetta on a cabriolet. i'm so strange.
perhaps i should finish my little fox project first haha (the main plan includes a quad light set up from a first generation scirocco, who knows when that will happen.)
anyhow! the point is... i think it's awesome you're modding a cabrio cause it's just not that common. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif good luck!

Firstly, I don't care what car you get, it MUST be modded.

Secondly, I'm an engine swap person myself. A VR6 or 1.8T needs to find its way into that engine bay.

a 1.8T would be sweet engine swap!

Get the Cabby you will love it. My wife talked me into getting mine ( I wanted a Ginster VR6, but we all know how that goes) I have loved the car ever since. I wouldn't give it up.
