Touareg Front Quarter Panels...

So... Just noticed that the Treg's entire front left/right quarter panels appear to be plastic. I didn't notice this when I bought her. Its not so bad, provided that the paint doesn't fade or begin to peel off after 5 years, which is often the case w. painted plastics out here in Cali.

The hoods aluminum, but I'm sure someone will argue with me, and claim its not technically aluminum and produce some pdf to prove it

I would think that would be much more based on the quality (or type) of the paint rather than the surface to which the paint is applied. There are lots of plastic surfaces on other cars that don't have these problems. Just about every car today has plastic bumpers.

Front of the vehicle on either side of the hood are called Fenders, Rear of the vehicle is called Quarter Panels hehe just my 2 cents

Hood, doors and trunk are aluminum. Fenders and bumpers are pedestrian friendly plastics...

That's fine. So long as they're not confused with the bumpers or valance panel, which are all plastic these days, thanks to Ralph Nader. Its just a lot of real-estate on the Treg to be made of composites, IMHO. There are two issues I have w. plastics: 1. They often tend to expand/contract/warp more with temperature changes, increasing the likelyhood that your paint will have issues 2. UV Light breaks down most plastics, esp. PVC, faster than metals.
