1967 Toyota 2000 GT
This is one of my all-time favorite cars and certainly my favorite Japanese car of all time. Powered by a 150hp 2.0L DOHC Inline 6. Only 360 were produced which means you can expect to pay over $100,000 US if you can find one on the market today.

Very cool cars. A LHD was auctioned off for around $150k USD several years back. IIRC, only ~65 LHD models were ever made.

A convertible version had some screen time in "You Only Live Twice".

Actually, I believe he never drove it. His Japanese counterpart did.

Re: Toyota 2000 GT (zukiphile)

Sadly, that was the only convertible ever made. I don't recall, didn't they even destroy it afterwards?

beautiful.....
Re: Toyota 2000 GT (MEIN_VW)

I had a chance to see one in person. Beautiful. Unfortunatly the interior is so tiny I couldn't even fold myslef in...and I'm only 6'1".
Re: Toyota 2000 GT (ClownCar)

Out of curiousity, I checked to see if Hemmings had any listed. Sure enough, I found one:

Ah the basis of any modern car comparison... How does it do in the video game...!
Re: Toyota 2000 GT (-GTR-)

Compared to what? A Skyline GTR?
Of course a new car is going to handle/drive better. They've only had 30 years of technological advancement to work with!

ONLY 6'1!!! I wish I could say that!!! I think the tallest person in my family is 6'0
Re: Toyota 2000 GT (pallison14)

I´ve seen a German Rally driver putting one through it´s paces. I had pity with the car, because she was pushing it very hard (drifts, spinning wheels). But the thing is very capable, even though it´s thirty plus years.

Re: Toyota 2000 GT (MEIN_VW)

The other car Toyota made from that era that really gets me is the Sports 800 (aka "Yotahachi" to Japanese enthusiasts)..

Really looks like a junior 2000GT...

Re: Toyota 2000 GT (Slonie)

Any specs on that 800? Also, do you know what that term Yotahatchi means?
Re: Toyota 2000 GT (Apollo-Soyuz 1975)

Damn, I had the specs before but it was on another web board. I believe it weighs something like 1300 lbs (!) or maybe I'm confusing that figure with that of the Honda S800. I think it had about 45hp or something, too, haha...Fun little cars though, I'm sure. As with the 2000GT there are very few in the USA...
As for the nickname...
Yota = Toyota
Hachi = Eight
Toyota 800...yotahachi
