I've just been invited to go on a track day at Bruntingthorpe on 9/3/02 with the SEAT Owners club. £50. Unlimited track time, 1/4 mile and 0-60 timing, spectators free. Looks like they are a few short so they are asking people to go along. Asked them to post it here. Anyone else interested (don't want to go on my own with all them SEAT owners!)

Re: TRACK DAY (TaviaRS)

not far from me...hmmmm..
Currently arguing with a particular finance house about clearing a "don't lend this guy money" sticker from my credit history, if they sort it then yes I will be coming along - car will probably be stock tho.

Re: TRACK DAY (TaviaRS)

OK I think I know how to get there, I use to work in Coventry and Leicester is before Coventry? Sorry I don't drive around a lot. I'll come along with you providing I get my car back. Hopefully all the parts should be delivered sometime next week. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

Re: TRACK DAY (MarkP)

Mark, just posted my cheque and form off. Hope you don't mind if I post the mail I was sent as it includes the details of how to apply (I'll edit it out if you want):
Hi,
If you’ve not already sent off your entry to the SEAT Drivers Club Track day
then here are some reasons as to why you should:
We have APR Europe coming with their
Ibiza 20VT & Audi S3
Other Dealers from the UK are coming
A Competition to WIN a Playstation 2 (proceeds going to Charity)
¼ mile & 0-60 strip timed on GPS based Datron Timing gear (print out)
Exclusive Magazine coverage offers by two national magazines so far.
Unlimited use of the track
Hospitality building so you don’t freeze!
Food on site.
Due to the number of applicants we’ve had to open this to other Non-SEAT’s to
help us cover the vast cost of this day.
The day is about fun – not speed or power – it doesn’t matter what you drive –
we have everything from a 1.0 Arosa to a 300bhp Scoobie
If you want to come – or are just interested – please download the form from http://www.SEATDriversclub.co.uk/trackday.pdf
If you want to speak to anyone – call Mark Phelps on 07803 389589 after 6pm or
email on [email protected]

Go on, you know it makes sense and its cheap!!

Anyway have a good time Jon and keep us posted?

Thanks Mark!
Do I get sent instructions (briefing times etc) or just wing it?
Now to swap the pads to get them bedded in prior to the day. <reaches for lump hammer>
Are there any petrol stations nearby does anyone know?

Re: TRACK DAY (TaviaRS) Todays the day (mannyo1)

As Tina Torner said - " The tyres are f**ked!"
Now need 4 new tyres, the front nearside is almost bald (it had only done 4000 miles!)
Good fun day out. Going to another one 27th April. Ian will post details soon. Nice to meet John.
The Octavia is very stable at silly cornering speeds, turning off the traction control is good fun, although it then understeeers very heavily, wish you could left foot brake these things. In answer to earlier questions, traction control DOES operate at over 90mph

The brakes are excellent, didn't fade despite repeated stops from over 120 down to 40, although there was smoke coming off the standard rears, epecially after someone offered to show me how to do a standing 1/4 mile, then proceded to do it with the handbeak on

All in all I did a total of 120 track miles, average fuel consumption was 10.8 (I did try to get it into single figures

Re: TRACK DAY (TaviaRS)

Thanks TaviaRS for a great ride round the track it was an excellent experience, your car sure handled extremly well around the track. I felt very safe with your driving and the way the car handled at the high cornering speeds, my favorit was the chicane.
thanks to the Seat guys for making me and my wife welcome. It was great to meet up with Tavia4x4 as well with his white 4X4 it looked very smart it dawned on me later what when you were talking about an ambulance, it must have been my high adrenaline levels afecting my brain.
