So I'm drivng my 95 Jetta III yesterday, and it's doing great. All of a sudden, I get stuck having to drive through a flooded street. It was in a good foot of water. As soon as I got out of the flood and was able to drive it at normal speeds again, the tranny wouldn't shift up to third. It's been acting screwy like that since yesterday. It started working when I got close to my destination (about 15 mins later), but then this morning, it started doing the same thing again, then it started acting normal again, then it started acting all screwy again. (sorry if this confused you)
I have a feeling that the speed sensor got wet and flipped out. Are my assumptions correct, or could this be something else? My speedometer was acting weird before hand, and now it just flat out doesn't work. Don't know if it's a coincidence or in direct relation to my tranny problem. Any advice would be great.

Re: Tranny screwy after getting wet??? (N41EF)

It's dried out with very careful use (i.e. driving REALLY slow everywhere!), and now that car is running great! Any way to avoid this happening again (other then not driving through floods, even though that could get difficult in Miami)?
