Lately the torque converter has been locking/unlocking when hot and only at certain gears, then hesitation.
I’ve seen a ribbed aluminum housing in front of the trans pan. Is this the air cooled trans cooler ???

What type of engine and transmission? AFAIK, the only cooling for the tiptronic transmissions is the main radiator of the car. There are 2 oil lines from the trans that flow through the radiator to provide cooling. That is for V6 and 1.8t engines. W8 and/or ROW engines may be different.

Not seeing any overheating issue. Thermostat is ok. Wish this had a dipstick tube to fill.

They had issues with the torque converter lock up seals. I had to replace my TC around 109K. It's more common on the 4Mo and TDI cars. You can add an extra cooler, but I don't think it will help much.

Found the problem. All that I did was disconnect the battery and discharged the power. Reconnected to reset the computer so it would re-look at things. Now it’s fine.
Did find the trans cooler line. Right in front of radiator. A small plastic loop of tubing to/fro the trans. Kind of cheap looking.
