transmission cost?

my cousin bottomed out her passat and needs a new tranny, vs told her 10 grand to replace it...is she getting ripped off or what? anyone know?

I'd look for one from a wrecking yard if it were mine. I have replaced engine/trans combo at reasonable cost that way in older cars.

Seems like a fortune. Must have been one hell of a bang to bust the casing on a transaxle....????

Call the insurance company that cover it under your comprehensive coverage...

Used, you're looking at:
Manual Tranny: $550-$1850
Tiptronic Tranny: $1000-$1800
4motion Tranny: $1200-$3000
