A daughter of a friend at work just bought an '02 Jetta GLS ( non-turbo) and complained to the dealer after the first few days that the car seemed to "buck" slightly when slowing to a stop. Dealer told her this was normal in VWs because German drivers like to feel the road....I have an '02 1.8t and have not noticed this...she brought the car into work today for me to drive and I felt it as we slowed for a light...it's a noticeable "chunk" feeling...normal? transmission problem?...any thoughts, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated....thanks...

Re: Transmission Trouble? (Shivas7)

My friend recently had this problem, it would also peel out inadvertently if you applied any gas after coasting for a while at 15mph or so. Very jerky. Very annoying. She got the same line from the dealer. I told her it was BS and to go to another dealer for second opinion. Have your friend tell that guy at the dealership that if he wants to "feel the road" maybe he should cut a hole in the floor boards so he can put his butt directly on the asphault. Puuulease! I would take it to another dealer for a second opinion. My friend did, they put in a new tranny and sent the bill to the first dealership.

Road feel, gimme a break. Even if there is nothing wrong with the car that's the lamest excuse I've ever heard.
