Trip computer problems in the heat/sun?

My trip computer gets blotchy and hard to read if it's hot out or the sun is hitting it making it warm. It gets better after it cools down? Anyone else have this problem? Do you think it's going bad? It's never done this before.

I had a 2000 and that's how it started. It kept getting worse and worse until it became illegible all the time regardless of temperature.

Was yours covered or did you pay out of pocket? If so how much was it to replace?

I never had it fixed. Turned the car in at the end of the lease.
