trouble starting

I'm having intermittent trouble starting my 1999 Passat GLX. After jiggling the shifter, the car starts. During the last three service appointments, the dealer
claimed to replace a multi safety switch, but the problem keeps recurring. I'm wondering if the dealer has properly isolated the problem. Has anyone heard of this problem and what was done to correct it. I need to schedule the 20K service. Thanks!

Do you have a copy of the service order that lists the switch................not to doubt the dealer's word.
