This morning i started my 95 Vr6 and it was reving up and down and stayed at about 1200, which is unusual because it's always at 900-1000 when its cold. Then all the sudden it just died. I started it back up and it reved up and down again and died. Kept doing that for a couple minutes. Then i let it sit for a while. Started it back up 3-4hrs. later and it seemed to be fine. I didn't drive it since i didn't want to break down somewhere.
I've had the TT chip for almost 2 yrs, and it hasn't given me any problems.
So what do you think??? Have you guys had this problem??

Re: TT Chip Failing? (kingofA2`s)

it was about 44 degreed outside. Its never done that before, even when its 20 degrees. I mean when its cold it'll rev a little high until it warms up but it has never died when i start it up.
What in the fuel system do you think it could be?
I'm going to put the stock chip in later tonight and see what happens.

Re: TT Chip Failing? (GLXGrl)

You may have had a little moisture in your fuel- solution would be to run some dry gas through it. If it is smoking before it stalls- coughing and spitting black or blue smoke, then it probably isn't a fuel problem. It could be that your fuel pump has some warn seals inside and is bleading pressure back off the fuel rail- this would lead to air in the lines and some wierd running characteristics after the car has been sitting for a little while. If it does this again, try turning the key on and off to "prime" the pump and ensure that there is plenty of fuel and pressure at the fuel rail when you start it. Its almost pizza time... http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

should be OK to drive. do like someone else said, get a bottle of techron fuel cleaner or 2. put em in and fil up once with sunnoco 94. By me there are 3 or 4.
and do a couple hard runs. might be moisture in the system

Re: TT Chip Failing? (vagvr6)

So what exactly should i change? Because i can just go buy the parts today. And how much is it going to run me? Or should i just put some dry gas in, and see what happens?
part #'s would be great if you have them
Also, i filled the tank last week with Mobil, and i drove on it for a little more than 1/2 a tank with no problems, so i don't know if it could be the gas, maybe.
Thanks

the MAF is big money, dont just buy one on a whim... put in some tecron or other fuel treatment.... and try the 94 octaine just for laughs. thats the cheapest step first. good luck http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
theres a bunch of sunnocos by me. 1 in white marsh on 40, one on 40 by golden ring mall etc

Re: TT Chip Failing? (GLXGrl)

mine has a little tantrum every morning when I start it. I'm still trying to figure out what it is......wish there were some VR6/VW experts in my area. Right now.....I'm just living with it the best I can, sure it's annoying as hell, but it runs/starts fine throughout the rest of the day. A lot of things have been checked with no solution found.
I can say that it isn't your chip.....that would be the last thing I would blame.
On that same note, and in complete contradiction of what I just said.....I'm counting my lucky stars that my problem will go away once I install my GIAC chip tomorrow http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Honestly, I'd wait and see if it becomes a consistent problem, one with discernable perameters (does it when temp is this, after sitting this number of hours) and the characteristics of the "act". You can always pray it was a fluke......you know, gremlins

Re: TT Chip Failing? (Frankenwagen)

well, here's the follow-up,
last night, it kept doing the same thing again, then we drove it to a gas station keeping the r's high so that it wouldn't stall out. Filled it up with gas, and it seemed to be fine after that. I drove it all day today and it's been back to it's normal self again. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
